Sri Lanka

A little boy, just about three years old, plays in the sand with his mummy. They run back and forth to the waves avoiding them and loving them at the very same moment. They let the waves crash over them in the bright blistering sunshine, taking a break only to build a sand castle and proceed to knock it down as soon as it's built.

Yes, to see a child play and be out with nature is a wonderful thing. So different from the city life of Bangkok. Where little boys go to the park and play only on the monkey bars, or over at a friend's apartment where a playroom has been constructed to occupy their energy.

Josh is a wonder of energy that runs all day and sometimes into the night but all of it with wonder and amazement.

Having fun with Pa in Sydney

Every August Joshie spends a couple weeks with Pa and oh the fun they have. Playing at the beach, running in the park and building stuff in the Man-Cave.

International Day at Storytime School

Josh's first International Day at school. All the little kids were to dress in their home country's national dress. Of course we had to send him as a Balmoral Nipper, stolen bathers cap and Aussie rashie.

Hello Buddha

Josh's first trip of memory to Wat Po, the Recling Buddha, was so great. He went around to all the statues waving saying "Hello Buddha".  Then it was "Bye Bye Buddha", giving a wave of the hand.

It's been a great weekend

Every weekend with a toddler is filled with surprises and with Josh it's double.

With tantrums at odd times, waking in the middle of the night and insisting we sleep at his feet and of course meeting pretty flamenco dancers and having a picture taken. It's all in a weekend with the Josh Man.

Jammin on stage at Funarium today.

When it rains we watch hours of planes landing at LHR. He better grow up in the aviation industry.

And finally when we are amidst learning the difference of nappies versus toilet we opt for the balcony once again.  Word to the g'parents in August, find a patch you need fertilized and aim him that direction.

Family photo shoot time

Taken by Lin at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, May 2014.

Let's go for a swim

Josh loves his play dates with his friends. And he loves to "more sinking".  Thanks Uncle Jeff and Auntie Kerri for the cool Spider-man swimmers.

Just not having a good morning

Heading to school is not always fun.  Well, actually going to school is fun, just having a bad morning is not.

Master of his scooter

Every child gets to that age where they learn the art of balance on his bicycle or roller blades.  This past past weekend we conquered our scooter while in Rayong.  Go Joshy Go!

You will be reminded of this one day

Joshy loves coming to daddy's work.  When he drives by in a taxi going to the mall, he always shouts out, Daddy work.  I guess he misses it so much he just wants to come to work every day, this instead of school.

Sleepy after a huge day

Just relaxing before bed on a gorgeous evening in Rayong.

Making friends wherever we go

Of course Josh makes friends wherever we go. This time, a roadside coffee shop which serves pretty good club sandwiches I might add, in Rayong for a long Thai holiday weekend.

Yes, he did just return from a week in Puerto Vallarta and Miami Beach.

Is the kid spoiled or what?

I think we are going to regret this and somehow we will need to fix it, but Josh has known nothing but Four Seasons for his vacations and weekend get always. Here at the a Four a Seasons Resort and Club in Dallas, he loved his little pint sized robe and slippers, exclaiming, Joshy's, Joshy's.

There's just something

Not sure if it's the bright white hair paired with brilliant blue eyes or just his outgoing no fear approach to life, but everywhere we go Josh is a celeb. We see it in Thailand and attribute it to a Thai/Farang thing but here in Mexico with other white kids aplenty?

For the past two days he's met and captured the hearts of kids from two to 16 years old. They want hugs, they want to play in the pool, they want everything Josh. So much so that tonight we visited the bon fire with s'mores and the kids came out of the darkness. First time meeting of some of the parents caused comments like "oh this is the famous Josh. My son can't stop talking about him. Hi I'm Jim."

Another voice from the dark commented that "at least he has clothes on tonight". This being a comment caused by J running across the pool deck today, totally starkers, squatting down by the drain and firing a good solid straight stream of pee into the drain hole with the entire resort watching with jaws open and in awe.

Yes, seems no matter where we go or with whom we are with, Josh causes a scene and captures the hearts of many.

Please don't let this go to his head, for gods sake.

Miriam Webster has nothing on Josh

So here are the Josh words you are to know if you want to survive.  In Australia there is the Macquarie Dictionary, here lies the Joshua Dictionary.

Poo - pool

Poo Poo  -  well we all know that one

Josh up - Josh is awake and not going to go back to sleep. So don't even try.

Poon - Moon

Poon - Spoon. You need to put the words into context to not get them mixed up.

BA-ee - Buggy, we're working on the "g" part of the word.

Aqua-door - helicopter

Opa pain - Airplane, his favorite mode of transport around the globe. Mainly because they have "the man" who also makes it go "stop" when we arrive.

Be be - this one confuses. It's based on boo boo which of course means something hurts.  Thus, be be, something hurts.

Brrr - Cold, generally referring to Josh himself.

Nam Nam - water, the shortened Thai word of Nam Pau

Skoow - screwdriver

Sleepies - referring to Josh or anyone else is needing to go to sleep or may even be asleep already.

More to follow as they come up.

Josh loves going to Sydney

Josh loves his visits with Mars and Pa in Mosman.  He gets to fix everything that's not broken with Pa and spend endless hours with Mars at the beach, shopping and just playing.

Up to no good

These little guys are up to no good. At least Josh looks like it, Aru might just be going along as an accomplice.

First cake beaters

Mummy doesn't bake that often but this time she made a real cake so Josh could give them a lick. What kid doesn't like licking the beaters.

Ouch that hurt

Well we knew it would happen eventually but didn't know when or where. The when was today and the where was our apt in Bangkok. Josh took a stumble and caught the corner of the kitchen table dead on. Nice verticle 2cm long gash to the forehead.

Dr. Somyod suggested a general anesthetic so a plastic surgeon could stitch him up with no scaring. Time will tell.

All photos are pre surgery.

Finally at the beach

Our first trip with Lochlan on a plane and Josh wanted to show him his favorite beach resort, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. They had a blast.
